The objectives the Fondazione assumes in the ambit of preserving digital memories are:

• to increase awareness and consensus around the priorities in order to face the challenge of preserving digital memories
• promote coordination mechanisms and joint-investments
• expand the Firenze Agenda initiative in collaboration with the Ministero dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali, involving national actors and strengthening visibility on the political level through collaboration with the President’s Office of the European Union
• develop an implementation of the Digital Repositories model based on the OAIS standard

 These objectives will be reached through:

• diffusing knowledge and awareness of the potential risks deriving from the obsolescence of technologies
• creating consensus on the distribution of responsibilities
• inventorying ongoing activities
• defining specifications for tools in preservation and digital migration
• analysing the specific features of sound and audiovisual archives
• identifying organisational problems
• analysing the legal context of digital memories and copyright management
• verifying the impact of preserving digital memories on information society sectors
