Fondazione Rinascimento Digitale operates in all of the sectors connected with the production, preservation and diffusion of digital memories by means of:
- Research and experimentation
- Conservation and restoration of digital memories
- Utilisation, particularly concerning strongly innovative applications
- Transfer of knowledge, education and consultancy
The Fondazione activities develop in four specific ambits:
The Fondazione will take measures to facilitate the accessibility of digital resources by means of:
- creating consensus and adopting common standars in the ambit of the Cultural Heritage Community
- studying and proposing models of integrated archives and resource discoverers on the Internet
- studying the Semantic Web and proposing models for ontologies in the Cultural Heritage sector
- creating applications for digital libraries and coordinating the principal initiatives on the national and European level
- promoting multilingualism and shared cultural terms on the European level
To reach these objectives, actions have been defined and implemented towards:
- conducting a feasibility study and prototyping an application intended to facilitate the integration of archives of various natures and different content
- studying and defining the role and user requirements for digital libraries applications
