The following effects have been observed:

Dependence of the visible effects of damage on the typology of paper support and on the type of radiation employed
The changes produced on samples, on the visual level, vary depending on the type of paper and of radiation utilised for ageing.

Damage on the level of the molecular structure of the exposed samples
By means of specific measurements (average degree of polymerization), damage has been found on the level of the molecular structure of the samples; the entity of this damage varies according to the samples and type of radiation employed (greater in the case of UV radiation), but it is always present even when the samples do not present visible changes in their aspect.

Acidification of some samples
By measuring the pH of samples before and after the first radiation phase, the trend to acidify has been noted among the samples of modern paper; the opposite trend has been found with antique papers.

Effects of recovering from damage following a period of non-exposure
On several samples, phenomena of recovering from damage has been observed; in other words, by leaving the samples in darkness for several hours, they tended to recover the colorimetric conditions prior to the last radiation cycle.  It was noted, however, that this recovery is temporary, given that with the successive radiation cycle, the sample changed colour to the point of annulling the recovery that had occurred during the period of darkness, and continued to damage as though this period had not existed.

Influence of radiation modalities on the entity of damage caused to samples in supplying equal amounts of total energy
By comparing the variations of colour recorded for the same amount of energy supplied to the samples, at the end of the second phase and of the first cycle of the first phase (overall 80 hours for identical conditions of radiation and illumination), it was noted that several samples had undergone greater changes with radiation in brief cycles.

Development of an in-depth model for describing the relationships between damaging and illumination.
